Democracy is a Success at Autumn Fair 10/9/10
Democracy had a stand at Autumn Fair 2010, at the NEC Birmingham, UK in early September.  A number of retailers made orders for Democracy games to sell in shops in the UK, one of which was The People’s History Museum in Manchester. 

GEEPY GAMES features on Radio Kerry 10/6/10
John was interviewed about Geepy Games and Democracy on Radio Kerry’s In Business Show with Mary Mullins.  The interviewed featured the launch of Democracy in September, the challenges of starting a small business and the support provided by the Kerry County Enterprise Board.

DEMOCRACY to attend Autumn Fair 5/6/10
John, Shahidah and Ramir will take Democracy to the internationally renowned Autumn Fair at the Birmingham NEC from 5th to 8th September 2010.  Our main goal is to attract distributors and stockists for Democracy the Board Game.  If you are interested in selling Democracy get in touch today.

DEMOCRACY Website goes Live! 1/6/10
The new Democracy website has officially gone live this week www.democracyboardgame.com.  Games will be available to buy from the Democracy website by the end of July 2010.

DEMOCRACY goes to Production! 1/5/10
Well, it’s finally happening.  Democracy has gone to production.  The first batch of games will arrive in August 2010. 

DEMOCRACY is Back! 3/2/10
The new designs are in and Democracy goes to production in March.  Games will be available to buy here and on the Democracy website (www.democracyboardgame.com) by the end of April 2010.

DEMOCRACY Hits its First Setback 4/11/09
It all seemed too good to be true!  All was going swimmingly with the development of the game, but we have had to put the release of Democracy back until the spring of 2010 due to unforeseen circumstances.

DEMOCRACY Gets a Makeover 12/7/09
After loads of play testing and tons of feedback, we are now in the process of giving Democracy a makeover.  The game will have new play features and a graphic design reworking.  The result will be a more vibrant looking and fun to play game.  The goal is to make the game quicker and more exciting.

DEMOCRACY goes  (New) International 23/4/09
John, Shahidah and Ramir recently visited the home of New Internationalist in the UK to show them DEMOCRACY and to ask for their support in getting the game out to the public.  Nothing has been finalised, but NI were very positive about the game and it may well be available through their outlets across the world by the summer.  Watch this space!

DEMOCARCY visits Toy Fair 31/1/09
John and Shahidah took DEMOCRACY to Toy Fair in London at the end of January.  There was very keen interest in our idea and our game, and a number of contacts were made with distributors and manufacturers.  Support was again provided by the Kerry County Enterprise Board, who have been very helpful in the development of DEMOCARCY.

DEMOCRACY goes to Prototype Production – 28/11/08
It’s finally happening!  All the design work is finished, and DOMACRACY has gone to the HASBRO factory in Waterford for professional production.  We will start by producing four games for final testing over the Christmas period, before going to full production next year.  DEMOCRACY will be on the shelves before Christmas 2009, but if you can’t wait that long and would like your copy earlier, we will be doing a Limited Edition first production early in 2009. First graphics presented for Professional Design – 15/8/08
This week saw the first designs presented for the professional prototype of Democracy the Board Game.  The work is being done by Nina Lyons of Rise Creatives (www.risecreatives.ie).  The game is on course to be completed by October this year.

Amnesty International to stock Democracy – 9/7/08
Its official!  When completed, Democracy will be available to buy through Amnesty International Outlets and Online Shopping.  Part of the proceeds from the sale of the game will then go to support the work of Amnesty. 

Amnesty International to support Democracy – 1/6/08
Hardly surprising you might say, but in an exciting development, Shahidah and John will meet with representatives of Amnesty International in late June to discuss the potential of working together to develop and promote Democracy.  Watch this space for further news on this incredible and exciting possibility!

Enterprise Support for GEEPY Confirmed – 28/5/08
The Kerry County Enterprise Board has now confirmed a 50% grant to GEEPY for a feasibility study to develop Democracy.  This work will include the development of a prototype of the game which will be used to promote Democracy to distributors and retailers.  The first designs from the graphic designer are to be presented on Tuesday 17th June 2008.  It is hoped the prototype will be ready by September 2008.

Democracy goes to Design Stage – 24/4/08
Democracy is now in the hands of the graphic designer.  As soon as the go ahead is given by the Enterprise Board, the board and components will be transformed from their rough, homemade origins, to the professional prototype that will be used for further testing and for marketing to retailers throughout Ireland.

Kerry County Enterprise Board Supports GEEPY – 16/3/08
GEEPY Games has recently received encouragement from the Kerry County Enterprise Board.  The Board provides support to small enterprise by offering practical supports to projects at the initial set-up phase.

GEEPY has applied for the feasibility grant and if successful, plans to use the grant to produce three professional prototypes of Democracy.   The grant will pay for the graphic design and production of the games, as well as market research for the project. 

GEEPY is Born! – 21/2/08
No longer just an idea for a game, we have created a project which will benefit from any sales of the game.

GEEPY will manage the production, marketing and distribution of Democracy, and will use the resources created to promote human rights and social justice ay community level.  See our development section for more information.

Democracy is Born! – 15/2/08
After more than two months of discussion, debate and many changes, a homemade prototype of Democracy was played for the first time this week.

The testing of the game has provided interesting challenges, and has also given a clear indication that it is both exciting and fun to play, while providing educational information to those who played it.
